Dr. John Croushorn is a residency-trained, board certified emergency medicine physician and President of Compression Works, LLC. He is the inventor of the Abdominal Aortic and Junctional Tourniquet. He has served as an Emergency Medicine physician in Birmingham, AL. Dr. Croushorn for 7 years and as the President of the Alabama Chapter of the American College of Emergency Physicians and also holds a faculty appointment with the Emergency Medicine Residency Program at Georgia Health Sciences University (formerly Medical College of Georgia). He has served as command surgeon of Task Force 185, Army Combat Aviation, in Iraq in 2004. He served as a lead military physician in Mississippi during Hurricane Katrina in 2005. He has served with US Army special operations as well as Department of Justice Operational Medicine.
Dr. Croushorn conducts research in hemorrhage control. He serves as a medical director in the EMS community in the Birmingham Region and has been involved with the development of medical devices for use by the military. He is an author, husband and father.
